'Normal speed meets every need'
Aiming to ensure safety for all road users, Delhi Traffic dept. conducted a workshop on traffic rules and road safety for the students of classes VI and VII on April 29, 2019.
The students were apprised of the various traffic rules that ought to be followed in order to maintain safety on the roads.
They were encouraged to follow the rules because the slightest of negligence on the road can lead to a fatal accident.
Firstly, students were briefed about the three golden rules which a pedestrian must follow:
S-Stop and check
L-Look while crossing a road, pedestrians must always look to the right, to the left, and again to the right and then cross the road
C-Cross the road
One must walk on the footpath only. On roads without a foot path, one should walk on the extreme right of the road.
Secondly , students were directed to wear a helmet while riding on a two wheeler ,to keep the head safe as it is the most sensitive part of the body.
Also ,one should wear a helmet with an ISI mark
Furthermore, students were briefed about the consequences of over speeding, signal jumping, carelessness, not using the seat belt or wearing a helmet .
As road crashes are the leading killer of young people globally, youth themselves must be part of the road safety solution.
The workshop proved fruitful in not only enhancing safety for our children while using the roads, but also helped them in inculcating culture of road usage which should begin from younger generation.
